The Boston aluminium French cleat Z-Bar mounting rail delivers heavy-duty, invisible hanging performance for picture frames, artwork, small mirrors, cabinets, and panels. Manufactured from high-quality extruded aluminium, the un-drilled Boston profile features an ultra-slim 6 mm projection and a precise 9 mm lift-off clearance. The blank channel gives trade installers complete freedom to drill custom fixing holes on site to align perfectly with wall studs or specific anchor centres.
Key System Benefits
Compact 80 kg Weight Rating — High-quality extruded aluminium profile supports up to 80 kg individually when properly anchored into wall studs or solid masonry surfaces.
Un-Drilled Custom Profile — Blank channel allows precise, custom hole placement during installation to match exact wall stud spacings or specialized anchor locations.
Ultra-Slim 6 mm Wall Projection — Exceptionally thin 6 mm interlocking profile holds heavy items almost flush to the wall for a sleek, floating appearance.
Modular & Mix-and-Match Compatible — Interlocks seamlessly across all rail lengths in the Metalciti Boston Series, allowing you to pair a 800 mm cleat segment with longer wall rails or vice versa.
What’s Included
1 × Boston Aluminium Z-Bar French Cleat Rail 800 mm (Un-Drilled – 80 kg Rating)
Rails are sold individually (not in pairs) to allow custom length combinations. Fixing screws, wall plugs, and drill bits are sold separately.

Modular Z-Bar Interlocking System Guide
The Boston Z-Bar system is engineered with a fully modular design. Because the interlocking cleat profile remains consistent across the entire Metalciti Boston range, a longer rail mounted horizontally to the wall can easily support shorter rail segments attached to your frame or panel—or vice versa. This lets you purchase exact individual quantities, adjust anchor placement around existing wall studs, and create custom configurations without paying for excess hardware.
Common Installation Configurations:
Standard Continuous Fit: One 200 mm rail on the wall paired with one 200 mm rail on the item.
Split Anchor Fit: One 1200mm rail or 600mm rail on the wall paired with two or three 200 mm rail segments across the back of the item.
Custom Offset Fit: One 900mm rail on the wall paired with multiple 200 mm rails or 50mm clips on the item.
Installation & Structural Load Safety
- Measure and drill custom fixing holes along the un-drilled aluminium channel using an appropriate metal drill bit.
- Fasten one Z-Bar rail to the wall pointing upward and outward using suitable wall plugs or stud screws.
- Fasten the matching Z-Bar rail to the rear top edge of your item pointing downward and inward.
- Lower the item onto the wall rail until the cleats interlock firmly. Ensure you have at least 9 mm vertical clearance above the frame to slide the cleats together.
Load Capacity Safety Note: The stated 80 kg weight capacity refers to the structural strength of the aluminium Z-Bar rail itself. In heavy-duty applications, wall fixings or plasterboard construction will typically fail before the aluminium profile. Always ensure your wall structure and anchor fixings are rated to support the total load.
